In the fall of 2020, we had the opportunity to test the Honor MagicBook Pro, a portable PC with a 16-inch screen that stood out with its interesting performance for a very attractive price. It is also still available for sale from 699 euros depending on the store.
Today the model is renewed and takes the name of MagicBook 16 and switches to an AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor, which should give it a boost in power compared to the previous edition, up to 26% according to the manufacturer. On the memory side, there is still 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD storage.
Emphasis is also placed on the display with a 16.1-inch anti-reflective IPS screen that offers a high refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The screen-to-body ratio, on the other hand, goes from 90% to 87% even if the edges always remain fine. This is probably due to the return of the webcam positioned in a more classic way on the top of the screen whereas it was previously placed under a key on the keyboard.
The brand also boasts of its cooling capabilities which will be useful during heavy tasks. This task will be carried out by two fans and triple 2 mm heat pipes triggered by the 8 temperature sensors. In terms of communication, we go from Wifi 5 to Wifi 6 via a double antenna and on Bluetooth 5.1.
The model will take place on online sales sites, including the official Honor site, Amazon and Cdiscount from March 1. The sale price is fixed at 999 euros, but the first buyers will benefit from a discount of 100 euros during the first two weeks.
